A BIG Win in Australia Over Fluoride

In the beginning months of 2013, seven communities in Queensland, Australia have gone fluoride free. The latest and largest city, Cairns, had their city council vote to stop the fluoridation of their tap water. Adding in the population of Cairns to the rest, the total population affected by the fluoride ban is over 200,000 individuals.

It was estimated that the costs of running the project came out to “$300,000 per year in chemicals, staffing, testing, electricity and infrastructure,” according to Mayor Bob Manning.

“If people want to have access to fluoride, they need to take that up with their dentists,” a council spokeswoman said on Wednesday. “The decision has been made … it shouldn’t be forced on people without consent.”

We need more stand-up council people and politicians in our communities who have the interest of the people in their minds and hearts. This is a shining example of the good that can come as long as we take a stand against anything that is being forced down our throats.
