Government Has Finally Taken Some Action

The government has finally taken some action to restrict the use of Keflex and Cefzil and other cephalosporins to treat animals prophylactally or for infections. This is important because if humans eat the meat of antibiotic-treated animals, the humans can develop a resistance to those specific antibiotics.

This means that in the future, if those people need those specific antibiotics, it might not help them. Sometimes these drugs might be the only ones that could help certain human infections. Let us hope the government has some way of implementing, monitoring and checking on adherence to their rules regarding the use of antibiotics in animals.
